Brian M. Whitehurst is Chief-of-Staff and Global Head of Regulatory Affairs at Liberty City Ventures. He is a leading legal voice specializing in virtual currency, blockchain, DeFi, and FinTech platforms. Prior to joining Liberty City Ventures, he spent 12 years as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York in the Investor Protection Bureau where he spearheaded the office’s blockchain and crypto related actions, including the investigation of Tether and Bitfinex, as well as overseeing the BlockFi settlement. He was also Co-author of the Virtual Markets Integrity Initiative, the first definitive examination of the world’s largest crypto trading platforms, which has been cited by the US Department of Justice and Senator Elizabeth Warren. Previously, he was the International & Domestic Logistics Lead for the Office of US President Bill Clinton, where he acted as liaison between the office and heads of state, political leaders, government officials, CEOs of prominent US and international companies, and nonprofit organizations around the globe.
